I’ve always liked the gulf fritillary butterfly. It’s a common butterfly found across the South of the US. Most butterflies have roughly the same pattern on the underwings as the top. Sometimes it’s a little more drab, but basically the same.

But not so for the Gulf fritillary. The underside, especially on the hindwings are full of large white circles.

The Gulf fritillary is an extremely common butterfly here in Florida. In warm weather they can be seen around wildflowers about any day. It’s always a thrill to see a completely different pattern underneath.
In this blog I’ll be talking about nature, nature photography, natural places (especially in Central Florida) and whatever else catches my eye. Thanks for coming by.
This will be interesting and educational.
